Mistake steak
Happy spring foward! I went up to Mammoth mountain to go snowboarding this weekend, which was radically wonderful. To top that off, I came home to a sunny and extra warm Encinitas- Spring is definitely here.
So, to explain my title- I was at dinner at a restaraunt in Mammoth called Hennessey's (not important information, haha). I was walking back to the restroom to bake some cookies (obviously), and I passed by the little chef window where the food goes up and the waiters come and whisk it away. As I walked by I noticed two waiters, a female and a male, and the female seemed to be trying to make desperate conversation with the male, who seemed disinterested. So the snippet of conversation that I caught was this-
Female waiter: So my dream is to get a mistake steak
Male waiter: uhh...whatever ::rolls eyes::
Ahhh, a mistake steak. A grand dream to have. Maybe she's some struggling rhyming poet that has some dream about breaking out of the waitressing industry by winning the situational irony rhyming lottery. Whatever.
I'll post some pictures of Mammoth later, but I really didn't take that many pictures. I think the most pictures I took of any one thing was of the little two foot snowman someone made and decorated with a scarf and placed on a ski lift. It was quite great to see the little guy riding past on the return lifts.
In other news: National Geographic is now my revived favorite magazine (like it ever waivered in quality, I've just come to appreciate it all over again), this month's issue has some particularly moving articles -namely, the one on elephants and poaching- it'll touch your heart, I promise, and also one on sharks. Really, sharks are pretty cool and definitely have a bad reputation, and definitely are important to keep around and not be needlessly killing for shitty soup. (edit: here's a link to the elephant article: Ivory Wars and the one on sharks -sans the photo inserts from the magazine- but still)
Random: +50 points if you can guess who this is

(hint- its actually a dude)

Speaking of such topics, I'm amped for the planet earth series airing at the end of this month on discovery- this shit is like crack for me. Plus, its BBC (and Sir David Attenborough), you know this is going to be quality.
