How to tell if someone is a moron in 2 minutes
In total and complete fairness, I think a lot of people are stupid. In all truth and honesty, I think a lot of people are idiotic. And even narrowing down the category of ineptitude even more, I think there are still a lot of Fucking moronic people out there in existence.. Now "Fucking moronic" is not the official title, 'Fucking' in this instance is the modifier for "Moron," my subject of choice and much affection *cough*
This is no surprise. Blah blah blah people are stupid. I very well could be another stupid person, but for the sake of this argument,I am going to try to be as unbiased as possible. But it won't be unbiased, because I can judge people in two minutes or less if they are a Fucking moron, and that is not very unbiased. But no one ever said being unbiased was inaccurate.
The stupidest, most idiotic, moronic thing I've heard some one say recently, and even though I think I can grant myself the liberty of claiming a fair amount of intelligence, I honestly don't point out stupid, idiotic, moronic people every day, only usually in reference to driving, politics, and such things where such words are appropriate, and by recently I mean about a month ago so you can see I'm not that harsh, the saying was, and the sayer shall remain anonymous,-
"I think we must free the people before we free the animals"
Now stop right there. Perhaps you agree with this statement, and its obviously already too late for you to side with me because you know how I feel about you(moron) and thus are adverse to hearing me out, but let me explain. Once again, to be completely honest, it is known that I am partial toward our animal companions/cohabitants of the world/coworkers/ (however you may view this, but we shall get into the importance of that later). So I am known as an animal lover, this is true, but this fact does not have anything to do with the way I feel about the above statement. I repeat- this fact does not influence my declaration. Common sense and a sense of my humbled place in this world, and universe, is what influences my opinion in the end.
Let me point out the first and most obvious point- Humans are animals. So, Scientifically and technically that statement makes no sense, its like saying "Eat the oranges before the fruit"- but its not, not at all because eating the oranges before the fruit never threatened the world's balance so imminently as much as the above statement in question.
Let me say this again. We ARE animals, anthropoids more specifically. Anthropoids are just another category of animals, no more important that any other, and especially not any more important than ALL the others. This could launch me into a whole debate about how selfish, not to mention ignorant and arrogant, a notion it is to assume or imply that Humans are the best species, or that we should come before the other animals in any way. Even as hard for it is for us to grasp the reality of it that Earth, on a bigger scale, is just a planet in a sea of billions, it shouldn't be to hard to realize this same sense of perspective on our own planet. Thinking like this, on the small scale (i.e. 'humans come before animals') is equivalent to saying that Earth is the center of the universe. This Pre-renaissance thinking here people, we're talking 700 + years ago. The Earth as the center of the universe? And then we upgraded to the sun as being the center of the universe? Yeah, a huge leap away from egocentricity but a small one in comparison to the truth.
But let's not get off track. The point is, not only is this statement scientifically and technically nonsensical, the fundamental basis of the statement is the most troubling thing to me. As I said, this statement and my subsequent comments occurred about a month ago. All I had to say in return was that too bad Humans are killing off animals, in specifics chimpanzees and apes in Africa, to extinction as we speak. Not only would it obviously be too late to free the animals if we destroy them, but what is so troubling is that Apes and Chimpanzees are our cousins, WE are APES. (And by the way, I was reminded of my whole train of thought by the Newsweek magazine issued this week that was brought to my attention) WE are killing gorillas mercilessly, its like killing your relatives, and for no reason good enough to justify. Humans obviously are the ones with the problem, destroying ourselves, with war and hatred, and killing our own cousins, and we have the gall to say we should come first, and when time is a factor? If humans needed to be 'freed' than we should START by STOPPING the killing of our brethren, Gorillas and Homo Sapiens (thats people, folks) alike.
To reiterate- its not the simple idea of people coming before animals. Its the ignorance of the idea that humans are seperate from animals, and that somehow the idea that we have enslaved fellow animals at our own hands by exploiting our powers is okay. It makes no sense to free ourselves before freeing the animals that we are harming and killing, especially when time is a factor, and extinction is a real threat. What I haven't even touched upon is the delicate balance of the world, and how if humans kill off our fellow animals, not only will the world be that less rich in beauty and diversity and opportunity to learn something about ourselves, our history, our relatives in nature and beyond, but it will be even more out of equilibrium.
It is okay to realize that evolution is not a perfecting agent. Actually, it is ESSENTIAL to realize this. Humans are not the product of refinement and the top of the line of all mammal descent. We are just here, like any and all of our animal neighbors, and we have no right to even think for a second that we deserve to be here over any other creature on this planet, much less assert the need for our freedom over theirs.
'
Therefore, any one who still thinks Humans should be/have to be freed before the animals is completely ignorant and devoid of any big-picture-like thought. They are too wrapped up in the egocentric idea that humans are the center of the Earth, the universe even. Wake up, and smell the falsely claimed organic coffee- WE are not the almighty, the most perfect beings to ever exist, the infallible.
The quicker we realize this, and implement empathetic and compassionate views, and work toward the 'freedom' for our fellow creatures of our tiny, humble earth, the quicker we will realize our path to our freedom will be in doing this very thing.
2 Minutes. One question, one obvious answer. Human being who is aware and humbled by what it actually means to be a human being (another animal, another being), or a complete stupid idiotic moron who just doesn't get a lot of the fundamentals of what it means to be alive, and to be here (on Earth, as a human).
“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated”
Mahatma Gandhi
Note- another test of intelligence is the classic Chicken or the Egg question- but this one isn't as obvious and so we can let it slide. But the answer is Egg if you want to know, and I'll tell you why if you ask.
